I am an entrepreneur, speaker, salon industry expert on employment and booth rental compatibility, and the founder of Enlightened Hire, a software service designed to match licensed professionals with the right salons so they can have long-term, fulfilling careers.

Having started as a hairstylist turned salon owner, I witnessed the transient nature of the business where stylists often have as many as five jobs within their first ten years – or even leave the industry altogether.

I’ve realized that this high turnover rate often has to do with incompatibility and a mismatch of expectations between licensed professionals and salon owners, which leads to frustration on both sides, as well as unnecessary expenses, tedious admin work, uncertainty, and unpredictable cash flow.

In an effort to solve this, I have created Salonspa Connection, a personal matchmaking service that connects would-be employees and students with the right salons for their level of skill, experience, and career goals.

I regularly speaks at trade schools to help students with their job application process and educates both salon owners and licensed professionals on how to find the right people and opportunities that will bring them fulfillment and stable cash flow.

After having helped hundreds of licensed professionals find jobs and salon owners fill gaps in their teams, I have systemized her approach and has built Enlightened Hire, a software service that automates much of her proprietary process.

Originally from Kansas City, Susan now serves clients internationally through her software service and her online training program. She lives in Kansas City with her two children and her cat, Venus.
